Versus XIII has improved; X HD at 1st Production.

The latest issue of Famitsu has a new interview with Kingdom Hearts 3D director Tetusya Nomura. But that didn’t stop the inevitable bit of Final Fantasy Versus XIII questions from slipping through.

According to Nomura, the game has improved considerably since it was last shown in January, and the graphics have been given a boost. The ratio of real-time to pre-rendered cutscene events is 7 to 3. The scene where Noctus and Stella first meet has been changed from a real-time to pre-rendered scene.

Regarding when it’ll be shown, Nomura said that while he’s not yet scheduled anything, he’d like to make an announcement this year, and the next time we see it, it’ll be running on PlayStation 3 hardware.

He also spoke briefly on Final Fantasy X for PlayStation 3 and Vita. He said that Square Enix’s 1st Production Department – the same studio behind the Final Fantasy series – is starting to create the high-definition update. So anyone worried that it’d be a quick-job port, rest easy.

    K, so:

    – Game’s looking even better;

    – Not even knowing when we’re gonna be shown the game but it will be running on ps3 hardware.

I’m sorry but…is any of this new information? Coz that’s what he’s been saying ever since the game was announced lol. That whole “the game is looking even better, you’re going to love it when you see it eventually” crap is seriously being repeated over and over again.

Please excuse my bluntness, but this is a subject I simply can’t quite understand, Square Enix is being utterly retarded about this game.

I look forward to the KH3D interview tho :)

@FaithlessMr: Yeah square sucks,a true shame Nomura is stuck working for them.

  • KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler

Sweet,I love PR-CG.its so pretty, now if only We could get a dang trailer with a friggen date!

  • LovesJapanManga

Quite tired of hearing that same excuses for years. Enough is enough. Move on already. However, I am quite excited to see how it looks on Playstation 3 and Vita – Final Fantasy X HD REMAKE (NOT REMASTERED). If it sells very well- I hope to see them plan to bring over with HD REMAKE for Final Fantasy VII-X and XII as well for Playstation 3 and Vita! One could only dream… but I know that in this reality, it won’t happen anyway… Good riddance!

  • Square Enix is being idiotic. All these information are quite redundant, and they are not committed enough to show FF Versus XIII in a new media form, such as new trailer, etc. It has been a year since they released the lenghty gameplay video, and they need to show something to proof that the game is still in development and not in development hell. Besides the absurdity of releasing FFXIII-2 before FF Versus XIII, I can’t stand waiting for FF Versus XIII anymore.

  • Aldridge517

I guess the real message here is: Wait for TGS (Or some other big public event) and see what happens.

  • Locksus

Yeah it’s about time they show us something so we’ll probably see a brand new trailer at E3. Looking forward to it.
I am quite anxious about this game but why are Square being so secretive? Glad it’s making good progress though.

Hmmm very interesting,i’m not losing interest of this game only because it takes a very long time to make.Hell if they took this long. The game must be godly beyond imagination. This game has all the major ff series devs, kingdom hearts,ff advent children + more.I have faith in them.

    • Mousse Effect

@Leonix7791: I agree 100%. People seem to forget than 90% of the time, a long dev time is a good thing. Plus, the high number of pre-rendered cutscences almost guarantees it will stay a PS3 exclusive and take advantage of the blu-ray capacity- Nomura had me worried when he said almost everything will be real time.

      • KainArkanos

@Mousse Effect: You seem to forget the fact that it’s been in development for about 5-6 years already. There is a difference between long dev time, which is 3 years, to over-extended dev time, which is where we already are. The game 2 years ago already didn’t have enough to show for its 4 years in development, now it’s 2 years later and there still isn’t much for it.

        • Mousse Effect

@KainArkanos: I don’t mean to personally attack you but people seem to be really uniformed about what a “too long” dev time is. For ambitious games started from scratch, 6-7 years of development is really not uncommon, most of the time you don’t even know about it – but here Square Enix made a mistake by talking about Versus while it was still in pre-production. FFXII, most Zeldas, Doom 3, L.A. Noire, Dragon Age, any Blizzard games, Red seeds profile are a few of the countless examples of games taking way more than 4 or 5 years to develop, and most of the time it is good news for the game itself.
Metacritic even did an article about that, and they forgot to mention a LOT of other positive examples :

  • NCloud

I’m 100% sure X for the PS3/Vita is a Remake and not a HD port.

  • We have XIII-2, and Square Enix will not be marketing Versus XIII before February 3.

  • FaithlessMr

Nevermind this post, my bad, sorry.

They still need to remove the 13 and just call it Final Fantasy Versus. IMO.

Especially if the rumor of a 13-3 is true in any form, I think it would be best to not associate them together.

Some people might think its another sequel to 13 or something, which it isn’t. And, as far as we know the relationship it shares with 13 is minimal.

It was a good decision when they changed 13 Agito into Type 0, I think the same thing applies with Versus.

One can only hope they are being very coy and it will appear at E3 and be a few months away from a release date.

People need to calm down a little. Of course there’s no new information, he was asked questions about Final Fantasy during an interview about Kingdom Hearts!

  • captainhowdy

Still not going to get excited.
