The first screenshots and information on Firaxis Games‘ XCOM: Enemy Unknown have been released, courtesy of Game Informer. Out this fall, this classic strategy XCOM is set after 2K Marin’s upcoming FPS XCOM, where a full-on alien invasion is happening on Earth.
It’s a “re-imagining” of the original Enemy Unknown, according to Game Informer, but not exactly a remake. The game’s complex systems aren’t being “dumbed down” for console audiences, either. Game Informer describes it as “getting rid of tedium and uninteresting mechanics.”
