Namco Bandai will release Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for “home consoles” worldwide in the holiday season of 2012, it’s announced today, following a Video Game Awards show tease.
The console version will include “a slate of new features not available in the existing arcade version found in Japan,” such as online play “comprehensively reworked in direct response to fan feedback” and other, all-new features.
“We have heard the voices of our most dedicated fans directly at various fighting game tournaments and through our social media channels.” said Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken Project Director at Namco Bandai Games Inc. “As Tekken is the top-selling fighting game franchise worldwide, we know that expectations for the widely anticipated sequel to Tekken Tag Tournament are high, and we are confident that we will deliver what fans have been asking for and even more.”
“The original Tekken Tag Tournament is one of the most popular entries in the entire Tekken franchise, which has sold 40 million units worldwide to date, so this long-awaited follow-up is an exciting moment for both Namco Bandai Games and for the fans,” said Carlson Choi, vice president of marketing, Namco Bandai Games America. “With such high expectations, Harada-san and the whole team have something special up their sleeves that will give the fighting game community something very big to look forward to for next year that no one will want to miss.”
