The latest rumors of the next Xbox say it’ll be a smaller, cheaper system, codenamed ‘Loop,’ and use a modified Windows 9 core.
That’s all according to MSNerd, a source that’s proven reliable in the past.
MSNerd leaked a supposed Microsoft product line-up last month, which listed an ‘Xbox Loop’ for a 2013 launch. The same list also included a Kinect SDK, which was announced a few days after its posting.
The site calls Xbox Loop the “erstwhile XboxTV,” saying it will utilize “a Zune HD-like hardware platform—a “main” processor with multiple dedicated assistive cores for graphics, AI, physics, sound, networking, encryption and sensors.” It will be cheaper than Xbox 360 and “far smaller,” “further enabling Kinect adoption.”
Take this with a grain of salt for now. We’ll keep you updated.
