It’s been rumored again and again that Resident Evil 6 will be announced during this year’s Tokyo Game Show. If there’s anytime for Capcom to do it, it’s during their 15th Anniversary stage for the series on Saturday. But that reveal may have gotten out early.
A user by the name of “Bio Weapon” posted this teaser trailer on the Biohaze.com forums, claiming to have obtained it from an insider.
[Update: The user who uploaded this video to YouTube closed his account. Here’s a download.]
The trailer contains the lines: “The world has seen all kinds of horror… Bio-organic weapons have taken over. And one place has the key to stop it all. 48.415802,-89.2673.”
According to the tipster, these will all appear true in Resident Evil 6:
- Veltro will play a big role in the game.
- Revelations‘ plot is fundamental to understand BH6’s story.
- Leon and Jill will playable/present in the game.
- More returning characters set to make an appearance.
- Ada will play a major role.
- Camera angles and classic enemies returning.
- Game Informer and PSM will have articles about the game somewhere during this Fall.
Note that in his forum posts, the second piece of artwork he posts is actually from this web portfolio. So be wary with this.
EGM most recently rumored the game for a reveal this week, claiming it be “brutally scary” and a return to roots.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
Update 12:26am: According to Kotaku, this trailer is real. We don’t know their source, but it was apparently revealed today. If true, expect an update soon.
Update 12:33am: Apparently, the trailer’s being shown in Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show theater. We’ll hit up Capcom PR to confirm this.
Update 12:53am: Okay. Apparently, Capcom hasn’t confirmed Resident Evil 6. A Capcom rep told GameSpot: “Capcom’s official line on this is that we have nothing official to announce about Resident Evil 6.” Though, that still doesn’t answer the question of whether or not this was really playing in Capcom’s theater.
Update 1:38am: IGN is saying it’s fake.
Update 2:59am: Capcom PR has told us: “This was not shown at the TGS theater. Capcom has not made any announcements and we do not comment on rumors or speculation.”
