Zoo Entertainment announced a new liquid phyics-based puzzle platformer today. Titled Vessel, the Strange Loop-developed game will see release on PlayStation Ntework, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and PC this holiday season.
Vessel will have players solving puzzles using physically-simulated liquid (water, lava, goo, chemicals, and so on) and animating them into living machines called Fluros. Each liquid character “possesses a body composed entirely of physically simulated fluid that allows them unique abilities that include melting, reforming, mixing with other types of fluid, and re-growing lost limbs,” according to the press release.
The game puts players in the shoes of an inventor named Arkwright, whose Fluros go mad, “turning on their users and disrupting machinery throughout the world.” To restore order, players must “create, manipulate and destroy a wide variety of Fluros and operate complex machinery to solve challenging puzzles.” The game is set throughout four worlds, ultimately leading Arkwright to create his next great invention, “The Device.”
“The high level of artistry in the indie gaming space can result in truly inspired creations,” said Mark Seremet, CEO of Zoo Entertainment. “Vessel is an amazing game in our growing digital lineup that combines a creative storyline with stimulating gameplay and exceptional technology. It exemplifies the ingenuity and craftsmanship that we have found within the indiePub community.”
Vessel will make its official debut at PAX Prime, which runs from August 26 through 28. It will launch this holiday for $14.99 / 1200 Microsoft Points. Check out the first set of screenshots at the gallery.
