Yakuza: Of the End ships 400,000
Yakuza: Of the End, Sega‘s zombie-infested third-person shooter spin on the Japanese mafia franchise, shipped 400,000 units during its less than two weeks on sale in Japan. The game released in the country on June 9, following several delays due to the Tōhoku earthquake.
Shipments for Of the End bring the franchise as a whole past the 5 million mark — a new feat for the Yakuza team. The first Yakuza launched for PS2 in 2005, with a sequel arriving a year later. Four PlayStation 3 entries, including Of the End, followed from 2008.
The team behind the Yakuza titles are currently working on Binary Domain, a futuristic third-person shooter for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, set to launch in February 2012.
