wipEout 2048 offers cross-platform multiplayer

wipEout 2048, the upcoming NGP title in the futuristic racing franchise, offers cross-platform multiplayer between the handheld and its big brother, PlayStation 3.

The game, which introduces 10 new tracks, 20 new ships, new game modes, and new weapons, is directly compatible with wipEout HD Fury for PlayStation 3. You’ll be able to race against up to seven opponents playing on either NGP or PlayStation 3. You can mix and match as many players as you like.

In a new interview with the PlayStation Blog, game director Stu Tiley talks up how NGP’s touch screen and panel, dual cameras, sixaxis motion controls, and dual analogs make the game worth while.
