New developments surrounding the yet-to-be-revealed Activision and Bungie multiplatform project have surfaced, today. Internet sleuth Superannuation dug up the evidence, as usual, which claims the title is a massively multiplayer online game titled Destiny.
The LinkedIn profile of Bungie employee Timothy Smithwright says he’s a gameplay programmer “working on the upcoming Bungie MMO called Destiny.”
Earlier this month, Bungie held a photoshoot for a “steampunk video game.” The Washington-based developer posted a casting call for the shoot on May 26 on the Seattle Steamrats Google groups forum. It read:
Calling all Greater Seattle steampunks! I need people to show up in
steampunk finery to have photos taken for video game artwork for a
steampunk game currently in development. Wear your own steampunk
clothing or show up and we’ll put you in costume. Snacks and beverages
will be provided and a good time will be had by all!If you have steampunk outfits that are Victorian British military,
French military, Confederate or Pirate-y themed, please bring them, as
they would suit the game quite well. (extra points for Naval military
themes)Also, any photographers willing to donate their time are more than
welcome to bring a camera and their skills so that we may have more
coverage of the fabulous-looking people who are sure to be there.Friday, June 3rd
9am – 8pm

Additionally, TheDailyJoypad claims that Bungie’s recent copyrights — which include ‘Seven Seraphs’, ‘New Monarchy’, ‘Osiris’ and ‘Dead Orbit’ — are, in fact, names of factions within what they claim is a “persistent online world.” That said, the steampunk bit may only apply to a certain faction.
Stay tuned.
