Following the announcement of its official Japanese release date, Namco Bandai has announced that Dark Souls will release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 throughout North America on October 4 and Europe on October 7, 2011.
“With Dark Souls, we’re able to bring the uniquely challenging and rewarding style of gameplay popularized by FromSoftware back to the PlayStation 3, as well as to the Xbox 360 platform for the first time,” says Carlson Choi, vice president of Marketing, Namco Bandai Games America. “With its massive, seamless open world design, deep exploration, tense dungeon crawling, extreme battles, and an innovative online component that allows gamers to draw from the collective experience of the community, Dark Souls provides a gameplay experience unlike any other.”
A limited run Collector’s Edition can be pre-ordered for $59.99, which includes a copy of the game, a limited edition art book, a mini-strategy book, behind-the-scenes videos, the game soundtrack, and a custom-designed metal case. For the same price as the standard edition, why would you say no?
