An announcement blowout from this weekend’s Tales festival in Japan has revealed the release date, pricing, and special edition details for Tales of Xillia.

Tales of Xillia will in Japan launch on September 8, 2011 for 8,379 yen (approx. $103 USD). A Tales of Xillia “X Edition” will be available from launch for 37,980 yen (approx. $470 USD). It will include a 160GB Tales of Xillia-branded PlayStation 3, a DualShock controller, and a copy of the game. A separate “Kyun Chara Pack” bundle includes a copy of the game, two chibi figures of protagonists Jude and Milla, a calendar, and special packaging. It will go for 12,980 yen (approx. $160).

Those who pre-order the game will receive a redemption code to download costumes of Cless Alvein (Tales of Phantasia) and Stahn Aileron (Tales of Destiny) for Jude and Milla, respectively. First print copies of the game will include a Tales of Xillia XMB theme featuring Jude and Milla.

A short clip of the pair in action, sporting the new costumes, has been released.

Additionally, Tales of Xillia will cross over with anime television series Star Driver to deliver Star Driver-themed costumes for Jude and Milla post-release.

Star Driver is my favorite anime of 2010/11. To see it combined with one of my favorite RPG series is quite a treat. And that PS3 is REALLY nice. The odds of getting that in the US however sadden me greatly

Star Driver was a huge disappointment, but the costumes look great! Tales of Graces F better do pretty darn well for those who have been asking for its release, because I really want to play this game.

  • Anyone up to take a flight to Japan, steal some PS3s, and fly back? I was thinking sometime around September.

That ps3 is awesome, puts my old fat one to shame. I’d give anything for it!

As much as i’m looking forward to Graces F, I really hope we get this too.

The PS3 artwork is gorgeous. JAPANESE VOICE TRACK for the west please.

I’m so glad for the manual rotatable camera.

oh hey, that was fast. i kinda thought they’d release it next year.

Doesn’t look to be any concrete evidence of the ‘behind-the-back rotatable camera’…
Not that it’s a big deal.

The games looking good. I’ve sort of been focusing on Graces F though rather than this.
