Namco Bandai has announced Soul Calibur V during their Level Up press conference in Dubai, earlier this morning. It will launch in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Game producer Hisaharu Tago of Project Soul made the announcement on stage. Soul Calibur V takes place 17 years after Soul Calibur IV, has an improved battle system and other new features. The main fighter is a character named Patroklos, the son of Sophitia Alexandra.
Namco Bandai has yet to release a direct-feed trailer, but Kotaku was able to record an off-screen version of the clip. See it below.

According to Tago, interviewed by Eurogamer, Soul Calibur V will feature guest characters, though he did not share specifics.
“We will have guest characters as we did with Star Wars,” said Tago. “Please stay tuned for more information on that.”
The game features “lighter, sharper, and more elegant” combat, and marks a shift from two-handed swords to short swords.
“There is quite some change in the gameplay from Soul Calibur IV. The pace of the game has been improved, and the combos will be easier to perform, and the moves will be easier to pull out.”
