With Dead or Alive: Dimensions gearing up for release on Nintendo 3DS, one wonders if Team Ninja is preparing a new game in the series for home consoles. The last game in the main series to see a console release was Dead or Alive 4 on Xbox 360 in 2005.
Asked if there was a future for the series after Dimensions, Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi told Eurogamer:
“Dead or Alive: Dimensions received positive feedback and responses from consumers, so there is definitely a future ahead.
“Team Ninja would like to progress and work towards that future.”
Will we see a Dead or Alive 5 on home consoles, then?
“We’ll think about it. We will take that into consideration.”
In January 2010, it was rumored that Dead or Alive 5 was in development for PlayStation 3. The rumor coming from a PlayStation-only magazine, we’d assume a Xbox 360 version would be in development, as well.
