Sonic Generations may be the title of Sega’s next Sonic release. The firm has recently registered two domains surrounding the name, signaling an impending announcement.
The two domains: SonicGenerations.com and Sonic-Generations.com. Spanish gaming magazine Hobby Consolas dropped the same name in their latest issue when a fan asked whether or not they knew anything about the next Sonic game.
Additionally, Sega’s Sonic Facebook page is teasing “something big coming this week”.
Late last year, it was reported that a 20th anniversary Sonic title was in development, which would include a mixture of 2D and 3D environments re-imagining the greatest levels of Sonic’s career. That game was reportedly titled Sonic Anniversary, though Sonic Generations sounds like it could be a proper name change for such a title.
Us? We’re still waiting on this.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
Update 11:40am: Sounds like it’ll be announced this Thursday, if a Sega Twitter update is anything to go by.
They write: “Sonic’s 20th Anniversary is this year, but SEGA start celebrating on 7th April and you’ll only find out how on the Sonic Facebook page!”
