With today’s release and incredibly positive reception of Portal 2, Valve has confirmed that the original Portal has sold almost four million units worldwide, excluding sales made through Steam. We can only imagine the amount of sales were the Steam numbers included.
The game began its life as a university project at the DigiPen Institute of Technology, fast evolving into the franchise we know it as today. The game released as part Valve’s five-game combination pack, The Orange Box, in 2007.
Portal 2 is on store shelves today for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac. Read our review here. Though, if you haven’t played the original, we highly suggest you do that first. You won’t want to downgrade after experiencing Portal 2.
Thanks, GameSpot.
