JAW announces multiple Oddworld projects
At tonight’s GameCityNight’s at Antenna in Nottingham, Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray confirmed/announced three Oddworld projects.
The developer already has a high-definition remake of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath in development for PlayStation Network and PC, but there’s plenty extra Odd on the way.
Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is getting the remake treatment. Gilray’s confirmed this time and time again, but provided more detail at the event. Like the original game, it will be a 2D side-scroller, but updated with high-definition visuals and animated backgrounds. It will hit PlayStation Network and other unannounced platforms.
A remake of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee is also on the way. Like the latter two games, it will be recreated in high-def, and release for PlayStation Network and unannounced platforms.
The Oddboxx, currently only out on PC, will also come to PlayStation Network. The Oddworld bundle will include Munch’s Oddysee, Stranger’s Wrath, Abe’s Oddysee and the PSone Classic Oddworld games.
A third game, Oddworld: Hand of Odd, was also confirmed. It’s a tablet game based on a shelved Oddworld real-time strategy initiative. It’s being designed for touch interfaces. We’re assuming it’ll launch on iPad devices.
Jumping back to Stranger’s Wrath, Gilray’s confirmed that the PlayStation Network version will support PlayStation Move, 3D, and YouTube uploads. An unknown “Feature X” was also teased.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
