Resistance 3 multiplayer unveiled
Insomniac’s lifted the lid on Resistance 3‘s multiplayer at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, today.
Resistance 3 features 16-player Human vs. Chimera deathmatch and objective-based modes. It’ll offer a “very deep and customizable progression system”. Players will earn points that they can use to “customize their loadouts that fit their unique playstyle.” Players are given the ability to create specific team roles and level up different abilities. Insomniac community manager James Stevenson provides a few examples.
“For instance – each player can choose and level different support abilities – such as a Bubble Shield, Ammo Beacon (give ammo to teammates) or Radar Beacon (enhance your team’s radar),” he wrote on the PlayStation.Blog. “There are also tactical abilities you can use against your enemies, such as the Doppelganger (projects an image of you nearby to distract enemies) or Dash (an explosive burst of speed to evade enemy attacks).”
Players can also select and level up personal and combat attributes. You can have leapers burst out of your dead body, or start with more weapons available to your character. Insomniac boast this ability as being able to “truly customize” your character.
A multiplayer beta is scheduled to hit PlayStation Network “later this year”. No date yet, unfortunately, but we’ll have the info as soon as it gets out.
