Rayne the vampire hunter will see her long-awaited return to consoles sooner rather than later. Majesco’s announced BloodRayne: Betrayal, a new adventure staring Rayne, set to release across PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade this summer.
The game’s in development at WayForward, the group responsible for 2009’s well-received Wii remake of A Boy and his Blob.
A “stylish” 2D side-scroller, Betrayal sees Rayne recruiting with the vampire hunting Brimstone Society for one final mission, teaming up with a “mysterious new friend” to stop an “evil vampire massacre”. It’ll introduce new characters, “gruesome” environmental puzzles, and a “full arsenal” of weapons including Rayne’s signature arm blades.
“It’s been a long time since Rayne captivated players with her bold mix of brutality and beauty, and fans have been hounding us to release another BloodRayne installment,” said Jesse Sutton, CEO, Majesco Entertainment.
“We are excited to once again partner with the creative and committed team at WayForward to bring Rayne back. BloodRayne: Betrayal delivers the action-packed experience franchise fans have been waiting for in a digital format that’s also accessible for new players unfamiliar with Rayne’s over-the-top, stylized gameplay.”
A teaser site is live. Though, there’s not really much to see, unfortunately. Majesco’s released no screenshots of the game.
