Molyneux: I fabricate features “to stop journalists going to sleep”
Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux, of Black & White and Fable fame, has admitted to making up game features on the spot during interviews in order to prevent bored games journalists from falling asleep. For real.
“I’d like to thank the press, by the way, for listening to my stuff,” Molyneux told the crowd while accepting an academy fellowship at the annual BAFTA ceremony in London.
“Sorry – I’ve slightly over-promised on things on occasion,” he continued.
“I could name at least 10 features in games that I’ve made up to stop journalists going to sleep and I really apologize to the team for that.”
Excuse me if I’m wrong here (I’m correct, I’m just being sympathetic), but wouldn’t the concern be greater for consumers? The people who read those fabricated features and look forward to the game solely based on those lies?
I think so.
Thanks, Eurogamer.
