“Highly anticipated” sequel in next Game Informer

The next issue of Game Informer will play host to the reveal of a “highly anticipated” sequel, according to magazine Editor-In-Chief Andy McNamara.

Responding to a guess that Hitman 5 would take the next cover of Game Informer, McNamara said: “Not a bad guess, but sadly… no. It is however a sequel and a highly anticipated one at that!”

McNamara doesn’t state whether the sequel is a brand new game announcement or the resurfacing of a forgotten title.

If it’s a resurfacing, we’re pulling for Beyond Good & Evil 2.

I’d go for BGE2 also… that’s a good call. Hope it works out that way!

  • Well, I hope its BG&E 2. Too little has been heard about it in recent times.

thought about it for a minute. I’m gonna say Grand Theft Auto 5.

  • Hitman 5 isn’t “highly” anticipated anyway. BG&E 2 though is and would be an incredible cover story. That would build more anticipation because of progress.

  • From March 22: “Saw the sequel to one of my favorite games of 2010 today. Pretty excited. More awesome covers on the way and some twists you won’t expect.”

Looks like Beyond Good & Evil 2 is out of the question, then. Mass Effect 3, then? Red Dead Next? Bayonetta 2, even?

  • New Horizon

I think you’re all off the mark. It will be Thief 4. Why do I think this? The community managers over on the Eidos forums won’t give us any answers about what is going on with the games development, however…they keep saying “wait until April”. Sounds like Thief 4 is going to get a wide media release then.

    • I don’t think I’d agree. If you read my last comment, McNamara hints that its a sequel to a game from last year. While I’d love for it to be Thief 4, Thief: Deadly Shadows came out in 2004.

    Calling Half-Life 2 Episode 3

  • Rafi

    Maybe Modern Warfare 3 or Half-Life 3 ?

  • Rafi

whatever is it, it must be awesome !

I think it’s Bayonetta 2. But I dunno, since Platinum was only contracted to do one more game with Sega, and it looks like that game is Anarchy Reigns. If it’s Bayonetta 2, it’d more than likely be under a different publisher.

Can’t be Modern Warfare 3 as the second one was released in 2009. Thank God!

A wild card might be Darksiders 2?
