Namco Bandai’s announced the North American and European versions of their two FromSoftware titles, this morning. Dark Souls, the spiritual successor to PlayStation 3‘s hit RPG Demon’s Souls, will arrive on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year. Armored Core V will hit the two platforms next year.
“The combination of force development with the experience of publishing FromSoftware global Namco Bandai Games will give a great benefit to future projects,” said Eiichi Nakajima, studio head, FromSoftware, Inc. “We look forward to undertake a successful partnership to provide new and revolutionary titles for gamers around the world. ”
Dark Souls promises to “break down barriers” with a world designed to encourage exploration and promote an “adaptation experience” (trial and error, for short). As with Demon’s Souls, getting through any bit in this game will offer a “sense of achievement without equal.” A full set of details can be found in our summary of this week’s Famitsu coverage. The first direct-feed screenshots can be found at Famitsu.com.
Armored Core V will “revolutionize the series” with a new atmosphere, strong offline play, and a “completely redesigned” online mode — based on team play — that promises “absolutely immense” battles on a “global scale”. The game’s smaller mechs allow players for more tactical pursuits against their enemies. Famitsu.com has a set of screenshots for Armored Core V, too.
Expect more later today. Hopefully in terms of screenshots or video.
