Despite Namco Bandai’s recent shift to game development in Japan, the publisher is still interested in expanding on Enslaved, an action–adventure title developed by the Cambridge-based Ninja Theory.
Enslaved was well-received by critics, however, it was not as well-received by consumers. The game undeniably struggled in sales. However, the positive reception to the game has given Namco Bandai future interest in the series.
“It didn’t perform as well as we hoped it would, but we’re very proud of how it was received by both the media and the gamers who have experienced it,” Namco Bandai marketing director, Lee Kirton, told MCV.
“I can’t discuss where we are in terms of a sequel, but we’re looking at reviews and feedback from the press and, because of the gameplay and quality that Enslaved delivered, we see it as a great catalog title going forward.”
Kirton also reiterated Namco Bandai’s goal at becoming one of the world’s top-five publishers.
“That’s the ultimate goal. We can’t go into too much detail about new titles and new business but we are working to a three-to-five year plan. We’re working closely with developers, discussing exciting new projects.”
MCV is to publish an exclusive interview with the firm next week. Also of note: February 2 is next week, which is the date on Namco Bandai’s mysterious ‘Tale of Two Richards’ website. So far we’ve seen teases for what are possibly Tales of Graces F, a new Pac-Man, and a new Tekken.
