Square Enix has officially announced the North American and European versions of Final Fantasy XIII-2, set to launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next winter.
According to the press release, the game boasts a brand-new story and an evolved battle system, which promise to make it stand out “against the standard for high-quality content established by the previous title.” It’s being directed by Motomu Toriyama, who directed the first game.
The official North American site can be visited through here (although it’s not yet live); the European site is through here.
The first image has also been released. It shows Lightning, in what some of our readers describe as “sexy” new armor (leg cleavage, much?), wielding what looks to be a new sword, with feathers surrounding it.
Check out the shot at the gallery. A low-quality version of the trailer can be found below.
A high-definition trailer will be released on January 20.
