Tales of Xillia confirmed in Weekly Jump
The latest issue of Weekly Jump has confirmed Namco Bandai’s new Tales project set to be unveiled at Jump Festa this week — which we’ve referred to as ‘Next Tales of PS3′ in the past — is titled Tales of Xillia. It’ll debut on PlayStation 3 in 2011.
Unlike past Tales games, Xillia has two main characters. The male lead is known as Shuto Matis, designed by Kosuke Fijishima. The female character is named Mira Maxwell, and was designed by Mutsumi Inomata. Both designers are Tales franchise veterans.
Shuto attends a medical school in the royal city. He gets all of his work done and is noted as an excellent student. Mira is a spirits master, which controls the four elements of fire, water, earth, and wind.
Also revealed: the game’s theme song will be performed by Ayumi Hamasaki.
Tales of Xillia was originally announced in early August alongside Tales of Graces F. A countdown site was launched after the announcement. Four months later, that countdown ends tonight at 5pm Japan time (on December 15).
The official unveiling is set to occur within the next few hours. Stay tuned. As for now, check out our Xillia tag to see what you’ve missed on the game’s coverage so far. Or check out the scan below, showing off the two characters.
Thanks, Andriasang.
