Way of the Samurai 4 announced for PS3
The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed Way of the Samurai 4 for PlayStation 3. The game’s development was originally confirmed back at GDC in March when developer Acquire was spotted searching for a western publisher for the then-unannounced title. Hopefully they’ve found one.
Way of the Samurai 4 will allow players to select playable characters from three different age groups: youth, adolescent and adult. The game’s set in a harbor area during the samurai period where three groups compete for control: Hikrau Kotobuki (the government), Reddo Akagi (isolationists), and Jet Jenkins (foreigners).
The game will introduce interactive event scenes to the series where players will have an choice in what action they’d like to take. A screenshot in the Famitsu preview shows an example of this while heading out to explore a cave with Kotobuki. Players are presented the option to either go with him, go home, speak to him, or even kick him. Each choice will make the event play out differently; going home ends the event, for example.
Way of the Samurai 4 will have a longer story than past games in the franchise. Regarding combat, it’ll retain the franchise’s better elements while providing a refreshing sword-fighting experience at the same time.
It’ll be out this Winter in Japan.
