Rumor: Fable III sells 650k on first day

Fable III sold over 650,000 units on its first day of sales in North America, if sales sources of VGChartz are to be believed. According to them, the number is derived from “direct retailer feedback from key retailers, estimates based on our pre-order figures and analysis of player data via services like Xbox LIVE and Raptr.” If the numbers are true, that makes Fable III one of the best-selling single-format releases of the year.

Lionhead boss, Peter Molyneux, said back in June that the company is “driving to sell more than five million units” of Fable III. If these numbers are correct for first-day sales only in North America, then it looks like the game’s on a solid path towards their goal.
