Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man and producer of the Dead Rising franchise, has just announced on his personal blog that he’s to resign from his position at Capcom.
In his goodbye post, Inafune spoke about how great of a company Capcom is, going as far to say he’s “in love” with the company, “probably more than anyone else.” He entered Capcom 23 years ago as a character designer and worked his way up to his now former position of head of Research & Development and Online Business and Global Head of Production.
As for Inafune’s reason for departure, he says has no steps left to climb as he’s already reached the highest level possible in game development. So much for developing that “dream” project known as Mega Man Legends 3, then, eh Inafune?
As big of a surprise this is, we should’ve seen it coming. Inafune hinted at his departure earlier this month, expressing how much he hated his job and wanted to retire.
Inafune’s to resign later this month. He’s specifically stated that there won’t be a chance for him to return to Capcom in the future.
