Dynasty Warriors 7 detailed; first screenshots
Tecmo Koei held a full unveiling for the Tokyo Game Show-announced Dynasty Warriors 7 (Dynasty Warriors 6 in Japan) earlier this morning in Japan. During the press conference, the company’s shared first details and screenshots on the upcoming PlayStation 3-exclusive entry in the series.
Kicking off the event, Tecmo Koei CEO Kenji Matsubara explained that PlayStation was the platform that Dynasty Warriors was first built, which is why they’ve chosen to go exclusive with the seventh entry.
Revealing one of the game’s first major features, the crowd was told to put on their 3D glasses to witness none other than (you guessed it) stereoscopic 3D support.
The game will have traditional Dynasty Warriors battles where players face off against hundreds of enemies. New to the series, Tecmo Koei introduced a few more additions. “Seamless Play,” which allows the game to transition from cutscene to gameplay without interruption, will lay intact. A new story mode called “Chronicle Mode” was also revealed.
In gameplay, players can change their weapons on the fly in real time. Up to two weapons can be equipped at once in which players can perform combos and such with. Tecmo Koei calls this the “Variable Attack.”
Also new, the game gives you two Musous gauges to stock up, allowing you to chain together Musous Renbu moves. Each general now has two Renbu moves at their disposal.
Finally, Tecmo Koei confirmed a March 2011 release date for the game in Japan. We’re still awaiting a western date.
The first screenshots of Dynasty Warriors 7 can be seen at the gallery.
Thanks, Andriasang.
