Mercury Steam boss David Cox has revealed that the Xbox 360 version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will ship on two DVDs come its release this fall.
“Microsoft actually sent their tech guys to the studio to see the game and look at [how we’re] compressing it, but they said: ‘Okay, it’s good. You’re doing all you can,'” Cox told the latest issue of Xbox World 360 magazine.
“I think it’s something Microsoft are going to experience more and more – that they need to help developers overcome the storage problem.”
To make up for Xbox 360’s dual-disc requirement, they’re adding an install option to the in-game menu, which will allow players to play the full game off of the second disc.
Cox also took the opportunity to reveal the length of the game as well as the length of cutscenes in-game. Despite Hideo Kojima‘s involvement – known for his half-hour long cutscenes in Metal Gear Solid 4 – cutscenes are “pretty short”.
“Our longest one is 14 minutes, which is the end sequence… The game’s around 24 hours long and every level’s different. We have so much variety and we re-use very little assets.”
Thanks, CVG.
