Over the past two years, Bethesda Softworks has been hard at work on a brand new game. We haven’t seen anything come out of their in-house studio since Fallout 3 and its expansions, so their next title is a pretty big deal.
It might not be too long before we get our first glimpse at the game, either, because according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard, the game is “pretty far along”.
“One thing I can say is that from when you first hear about it to when it’s out will be the shortest it’s been for us,” Howard told Eurogamer during QuakeCon this past weekend. “It’s pretty far along. When we show it, we want to show a lot, because there’s a lot of game there to play right now.
“You know, if Pete Hines came in and said, “I want you to show it,” I’d be like, “Okay, I’m ready to show it.” But we’ve just decided for now not to yet.”
While Howard wasn’t able to say much on the project, he did confirm it to be for current generation consoles, which we pretty much figured was a given.
“I can say it is on the existing platforms, which we’re really happy with. You almost feel like you have a new console when you see the game.”
Wow. We’re already excited. Elder Scrolls V, anyone?
