Valve: No Move/3D support for Portal 2
Valve head of marketing Doug Lombardi has told the latest issue of PSM3 that the upcoming PlayStation 3 release of Portal 2, announced by Gabe Newell at E3 as the “best version” of the game “on any console”, will not support Sony’s upcoming motion controller or 3D gaming push.
“[Having a dedicated PS3 team] allows us to build our PS3 products internally, which we feel is critical for delivering the highest quality version of our products,” Lombardi told the magazine.
“[Move and 3D] will have to wait for Portal 3 or another title,” he added. “We won’t be supporting those in Portal 2.”
Lombardi was asked whether or not Valve’s dedicated PS3 team meant the arrival of games like Left 4 Dead on the platform. Lombardi answered: “Who knows what the future will bring?”
Portal 2 launches in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
