Chiyomaru Shikura, CEO of Japanese game publisher 5pb, is working on a project with Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. During an interview with Japanese publication 4Gamer, the CEO said that he and the legendary creator are working on a new adventure game.
Suda 51 is involved, as well, if a tweeted image (see below) from back in May is to be believed. The tweet said that a meeting between Suda 51, Shikura, and Kojima resulted in the idea for a new adventure game.
When 4Gamer asked whether or not Shikura and Kojima are making an action game, Shikura replied, “Yes, Kojima said that he wanted to make an adventure game. We’re still at the level of ‘let’s lock ourselves away in the mountains somewhere and work on the plot,’ so the specifics haven’t been finalized.”
Shikura wouldn’t comment on the type of story we’d see in the game, whether it’d be science fiction, etc. He’d need permission from Kojima to answer that. However, a question later in the interview hints at a new direction for 5pb’s usual “gal game” type.
“I personally love adventure games. To be honest, I’m not focused on gal games. I even think that it would be okay to have a classic style adventure game boom with nothing to do with bishojo or pretty boys.”
5pb is known for games such as Steins Gate on Xbox 360. Loli shooters, basically. We’ll see what comes out of him, Kojima, and Suda when they release official details.
Note: This project is most likely different from the project that may result in Metal Gear Solid 5.
Thanks, Andriasang.
