With E3 up and coming next week, Seven45 Studios has revealed the full skinny on their upcoming “revolutionary” entry in the music game genre, Power Gig: Rise of the Six String.
Not only has the company revealed the game’s drum and microphone peripherals, but they’ve also sent out the first in-game screenshots of the title, which we’ll be demoing ourselves next week.
For those who are wondering just exactly what this is, it’s like Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but the guitar has strings. Don’t be scared.
Interesting note: the drum peripheral, named the AirStrike Drum Controller, literally has players striking air. The peripheral rests at the players feet, while players strike the spot in the air where that color would normally be had it not been on the floor. According to Seven45, this adds more “true-to-life movement” to the drums.
The game features exclusive talent from the likes of Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews Band, and Kid Rock, who’ve entered a contract to work only with Power Gig. It’s also the first time ever these bands’ songs will appear in a video game.
An story mode where players embark on an “epic quest to overthrow the oppressive headliner who has brought disharmony to the world of the game” will be available for up to three players to take part in. Each player has to be on one of the peripherals. No double guitar-ring.
Power Gig really shines in its Chording Mode which uses real power chords so you’ll actually learn to play the song you’re playing in-game on a real guitar. Freaky, we know. Luckily, there will be a “robust” tutorial mode to walk you through everything.
Check out the first in-game screenshots and all three peripherals of Power Gig at the gallery. The new videos can be seen below.
