NIS America: Neptune licensing “almost done”; Disgaea 4 teased for TGS
NIS America president Haru Akenaga has revealed during E3 that the Japanese video game company has shifted their focus to PlayStation 3, teased new franchises for the console, and apologized for the suckfest that was Last Rebellion.
It all came through an interview conducted by Siliconera.
First off, Akenaga revealed that the company is currently “in discussion about the conditions for licensing” Compile Heart‘s Super Dimensional Game Neptune to North American and European shores. Apparently, the deal is nearly sealed.
Akenaga goes on to apologize about Last Rebellion, saying that developer Hit Maker “told us they are going to make much better titles than [their first game] Blade Dancer.” Obviously, they put their trust in the wrong developer. He says he feels “really sorry”, but that they “had no choice” but to release the game.
He promises for the future that “from now on, even though we fund a title, we will not release it if the quality is not good enough.”
He’s also revealed the company’s plans to make PlayStation 3 their primary development target, saying that “almost all titles” that have just began development are for PlayStation 3. He says that they are creating new franchises for the system, which they understand to be “really tough” as the fad nowadays seem to be sequels. As for Xbox 360, they have no plans to develop for the Microsoft platform.
Finally, the interview was closed with a question regarding Disgaea 4. Akenaga denied to answer, telling the site to “Ask me again at TGS.” Does that mean we’ll see it at the Tokyo Game Show, then?
