Motorstorm: Apocalypse announced for PS3
Sony has officially lifted the lid on Motorstorm 3 today, coming to PlayStation 3 as Motorstorm: Apocalypse. This is just another title in the series of games Sony’s announced before their E3 presser next Tuesday.
Motorstorm: Apocalypse is set in the Bay Area of California. After a tremor, the city is completely under ruins. It’s not done yet, though. It’s still collapsing by the time MotorStorm comes through, and will continue collapsing as you race the city.
Apocalypse offers three playable characters each with their own difficulty level to play as. Those characters are Rocky (beginner), Survivor (medium), and Big Dog (hard). Naughty Dog is actually said to be helping the team at Evolution draw out the story for the game.
It’ll have sixteen player online multiplayer races and four-player local split-screen – or, you can bring those local four-players into an online race with you.
The online mode will have “massive vehicle customization” allowing players to change their parts, shapes, vinyls and other accessories. Players can share them online with others via the community site. In order to upgrade their vehicles, players will earn perks (a la Modern Warfare) giving them a desire to continue racing online. Other features include persistent matchmaking and a game mode creator, allowing you to design your own race rules from a completely blank slate.
Apparently, they’re also going to replace load screens with cut scenes to dive deeper into the MotorStorm story.
No release date. The apocalypse is only the beginning, isn’t it?
