Believe it or not, while the resemblance to games such as God of War, Devil May Cry, and Ico is clearly seen in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, the game’s biggest inspiration in terms of combat is none other than Capcom‘s Street Fighter franchise.
“There’s a lot of one-on-one action, and a lot of things you need to think about,” Castlevania producer David Cox told IGN.
“For example, you might perform a combo on an enemy, then block them, open up into another combo, block, get your orbs, change to light magic, replenish your health, swap to dark magic, dish out some more combos. It’s a much more strategic type of combat.”
We’ll see how it all plays out come E3.
