Bungie considered Halo 4 before Reach

Bungie community manager Brian Jarrad has said that there was a time they considered creating Halo 4 rather than Halo: Reach.

“Even before the idea to build a game based around Reach came about, a lot of other concepts were explored,” Jarrard told MTV Multiplayer, “up to and including a proper ‘Halo 4,’ where Master Chief was going to wake up from cryo-sleep and we were going to tell that story.”

Unfortunately, Halo 4 never made it to pre-production as “it just wasn’t as interesting to the team to just pick up where that left off and all the baggage that came with it.”

Halo: Reach is Bungie’s last Halo game. If Halo 4 is ever created, we can expect 343 Industries, Microsoft’s new studio for everything Halo, to be at its helm.
