Ubisoft has announced today that Shaun White’s latest take on extreme sports gaming, Shaun White Skateboarding, is scheduled to launch PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC this fall.
The will allow players to “transform a dull, lifeless city into their own extraordinary skating playground.”
Similar to Pandemic’s The Sabotuer, the game starts off in a gray, colorless city. As players skate and complete challenges, the city becomes colorful and lively, new areas are unlocked, better skating parameters open, and buildings change. The game promises players the ability to “stretch and twist handrails to dizzying heights, empty fountains to create bowls, morph streets into ramps and much more.” There will be over eighty skate tricks hand picked by Shaun White himself included in the game.
“When we started making the game, we knew we wanted to give players a sense of how skaters see the world – everything is an opportunity,” said Nick Harper, Creative Director. “What looks like a handrail to us is really a grind. A park bench is a place to trick, an alley is a quarter pipe, etc. We’ve taken that idea and expanded it. We wanted to put our own twist on the genre and craft the type of game that allows players to be creative and still have a lot of fun.”
