The weekly charts for Japan signal great success for Square Enix‘s recently released Japan-exclusive PlayStation 3 game Nier Replicant. Xbox 360‘s Nier Gestalt failed to reach that same success, it seems.
The difference between the two: Nier Replicant features a younger hero with Japanese voiceovers with a more anime-esque style. Nier Gestalt on the other hand features an older hero with English voiceovers and a more western look. Gestalt is the game that was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America this past Tuesday.
Nier Gestalt failed to make the top ten. Here’s what did:
1. NieR Replicant (Square Enix, PS3)
2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo, Wii)
3. Tokyo Mono Hara Shi: Karasu No Mori Gakuen Kitan (Atlus, PSP)
5. Friend Collection (Nintendo, DS)
6. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo, Wii)
7. Pro Baseball Spirits 2010 (Konami, PSP)
8. The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (Bethesda, PS3)
9. Pokemon Ranger Path of Light (Pokemon, DS)
10. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo, Wii)
Seriously, it’s Japan. What did you expect?
Thanks, Andriasang.
