L.A. Noire is definitely not a 1947 version of Grand Theft Auto, Rockstar Games VP of Product Development Jeronimo Barrera told an unnamed foreign games magazine. According to him, there is no game that can be compared to L.A. Noire – not Grand Theft Auto, not Mafia, and not Saints Row. Unlike the mentioned titles, you won’t be taking out a gun here, but a notepad instead.
That’s not to say the game’s not action heavy. Shoot-outs, car chases, and plenty of action is packed into L.A. Noire. The authentic 1947 Los Angeles investigative game promises players the abilitiy to inspect the homes of suspects, check everything from mirrors to pipes, and figure out for yourself whether they’re telling the truth. With the game’s “revolutionary” facial animation system, players will be able to see the truth or lies in the game’s characters.
All the crimes you’ll be investigating are based off real crimes committed back in 1947 L.A. You’ll start off low in the ranks, but rise your way up.
It’s a different game, that’s for sure. Barrera explains that: “There is a enough mediocre crap in the industry, we want to try something different.”
Well played.
Thanks, APB.
