Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer Dave Cox has said that without Hideo Kojima aiding the team at Mercury Steam, “the game wouldn’t be as good” as it already is.
“Frankly, the game wouldn’t be as good without him,” Cox told the latest issue of PSM3. “On a technical level, they’ve helped us with many things – with Gabriel and facial animation, design and more. I get videos from them highlighting issues, and that’s really useful.”
As surprising as it may sound, Kojima feels that he can learn from Mercury Steam, despite being the game development legend he already is.
“The most surprising thing [Kojima] told me was that he felt Mercury Steam could teach them some things about game development,” added Cox.
“That’s typical of Mr. Kojima; he’s generous and he’s always looking at ways to improve what he does. Having someone of his calibre helping is a once-in-a-lifetime chance that the Castlevania team is truly grateful for.”
Thanks, CVG.
