Breach gets first details and screenshots
Earlier this week, Atomic Games announced a new multiplayer CIA shooter by the name of Breach. Well, they’ve brought the game to PAX East and now we’re bringing you the first screenshots and intel on the game.
Breach is a first-person shooter for Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC with one of it’s huge features being destructive environments, or as Atomic Games president Peter Tamte likes to call it: “Destruction 3.0.”
Tamte explains that the amount of destructability seen in Breach is a generation ahead of what we’d see today in games like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Red Faction Guerrilla. With Breach, players can literally break apart a building piece-by-piece, brick-by-brick, and break apart the foundations to crush their enemies.
Another of Breach‘s big feature is the game’s “Active Cover System”. It’s not typical you’ll find a great cover system in a first-person shooter, as it’s usually strictly a third-person shooter feature, but Atomic has added a quick pop-in, pop-out system with just about the right amount of magnetism to whatever you’re taking cover to that deals with common cover system issues.
The game features a range of classes from the CIA’s Special Activities Division. There’s the Rifleman, the Sniper, the Gunner, and two more.
Then, there are these gadgets that players can equip that are really cool. The Bionic Ear, for example, allows players to hear enemy footsteps and gunfire as a visual pulse at the bottom of the screen. Another example, the Sniper Detector, lets players see the glint of a sniper’s scope in the distance.
Breach is aiming for a $15 price point on the Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC when it hits this summer. For the first batch of screens, head over to the gallery.
Thanks, Kotaku.
