Sam Fisher voice actor almost turned down Conviction
Michael Ironside has been doing the voice of Splinter Cell‘s Sam Fisher since the franchise first began. When he was first approached to do Conviction for Xbox 360, he wasn’t on board with coming back to voice Fisher again.
“I wasn’t interested in doing it because structurally the way the character was built was that I thought ‘I don’t want to do this,”‘ Ironside told Collider . “And [Ubisoft] asked what was wrong and I said ‘Well, he is too monochromatic. There isn’t enough humanity in the character. There is no conflict underneath his decisions.'”
Ironside didn’t believe Ubisoft could bring the series any farther than it had already come. Once they created Conviction‘s new, assumingly less hairy Sam Fisher, Ironside came back.
“They came back at me with a fresh look at the character and a new way of doing things and the new artwork.”
He liked what he saw.
Splinter Cell: Conviction launches exclusively for Xbox 360 this April.
