Woah. Activision‘s yesterday-released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may have broke a record, selling nearly seven million copies on its first day on retail shelves. How big of a deal is that? Grand Theft Auto IV sold six million copies in its first week. Yeah, it’s a big deal.
As for statistics, 55% of sales are of the Xbox 360 version Xbox 360, 33% of the PS3 version and the remaining 12% are of the PC version. Over 4.2 million copies were sold in the Americas (3.7 million in the US), 1.2 million copies in the UK and 350,000 each for France and Germany.
We’ve got to hand it to Infinity Ward. They know how to make a game.
Thanks, VGChartz.
