Microsoft: “We have no plans to purchase EA”
Rumors of Microsoft purchasing mega-game publisher Electronic Arts quickly sprung about after a four percent jump in EA’s stock.
“There’s talk that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring Electronic Arts. It’s unsubstantiated chatter, but it’s out there,” Frederic Ruffy, options strategist at WhatsTrading.com in New York, told Reuters.
Microsoft spokesman David Dennis quickly stepped in to dispell the rumor, confirmed Microsoft is not planning on purchasing EA.
“There is no truth to this rumor,” he said in an e-mail to Seattle PI, “we have no plans to purchase EA.”
There you have it.
