Information on Ninja Theory‘s next title, Enslaved, has leaked from this month’s issue of Game Informer. We’ve got all the information for you right here.
In development at Ninja Theory, Enslaved is being directed by Andy Serkis and written by Alex Garland, the guy from 28 Days Later. The story is loosely based on a chinese novel titled Journey to the West about the adventures of taming a great and powerful Monkey King.
Enslaved takes place in the vine-tangled ruins of New York City in a post-apocalyptic future where robots are taking human surviors westward on airships for some reason.
Players will take control of a spikey-haired blonde male named Monkey with a scar branded all over his body. His brute strength allows him to smash robots to bits with just his bare hands, which gets him orbs. Orrbs is your currency for upgrading weapons and fighting skills. Monkey mainly fights using a staff.
A crazy red-haired woman named Trip has placed Monkey in a “slave collar” (thus the name of the game) and is controlling what you do. Make her unhappy and that’s bad for you. Monkey is protecting her, trying to get her back to her village. However, Monkey’s plan is to make her suffer when he finally returns her to her village. Trip is useful, however, as she can hack computers and solve puzzles that Monkey cannot do.
Robots are the enemy. Robots range from dumb and frozen to robots who can mimic human life. Fighting robots is done in a melee/combo-oriented style, but features some tactical-oritenation as well. You could tear a gun off one robot, throw a robot with a faulty power supply at a group of others, then use the gun to explode that power supply and kill them all.
This is all we got for now, but I’m sure much more information will come out once this information is released on the net.
