Square Enix: PS3 will see a big impact in sales next year
Square Enix President Yoichi Wada is happy about the recent price drop on the PlayStation 3, but he believes that a big impact in sales won’t be seen until next year. The price cut came with the announcement of the slim PlayStation 3, trimming down in size and power usage, and upping the hard-drive. This new PS3 is expected to boost game sales for the likes of Square Enix, Electronic Arts, Activision, Capcom and all of the sorts.
“In terms of the impact (the PS3 cut) will have on this financial year’s earnings, I don’t think there will be a major difference,” Wada said. “But I expect there to be a big impact from next year.”
Square Enix currently has two titles on their release list for PlayStation 3 in the coming year, being Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV. Their recently aquired Eidos has just released Batman: Arkham Asylum on the system, which also contains exclusive levels to play as the Joker.
