BioWare on Activision’s PS3 Threat: “Silly”
Greg Zeschuk, co-founder of Mass Effect and Dragon Age developer BioWare, has said today that Activision‘s threats of stopping support for PlayStation 3 if Sony doesn’t lower the price is just “silly”, acknowledging the importance of the PlayStation name and brand.
“I don’t think it’s really fair to poke fun at Sony,” Zeschuk told CVG. “Certainly the Wii‘s been a massive success and Sony’s probably not going as fast as they thought it would be but I think that they’re starting to make the right moves and the software’s coming along.
“I think it’s silly to be saying you’re not going to support Sony. The brand itself is still huge and there are millions of [users] out there.”
PlayStation 3 has currently sold 22 million units worldwide in comparison to Xbox 360‘s nearly 30 million. With a year difference between the consoles’ launch dates, we’d say there’s nothing wrong with the userbase for PlayStation 3 and that Activision’s comments are indeed “silly”. Although, a price drop would never hurt for potential buyers.
