Tecmo: Quantum Is Not Gears of War

Tecmo’s upcoming PlayStation 3 shooter, Quantum, has been heavily compared to Xbox 360‘s Gears of War a number of times since its announcement. This is probably because both Quantum and Gears feature bulky male leads, big guns, and that oh so great cover system.

Tecmo has stated otherwise however, saying that the game is not as similar to Gears of War as one might think. Peter Garza, localized producer of Quantum, has this to say on the matter.

“Yeah, everybody compares it to Gears of War (laughs). Obviously it’s a sci-fi third-person shooter and we have a big guy for a main character.” Garza explained. “What we’re trying to do is make a third-person shooter that only Tecmo can make. We know action games. We have Ninja Gaiden, so we’re trying to incorporate some of that action game feel into third-person shooters.”
