PlayStation 3 Firmware v3.0 to include reputation system, more

According to a source of VG247, PlayStation 3 firmware v3.0 is set to bring a “completely new system” to the console, with a pre-Christmas release in mind boasting some major feature updates.
The update has been compared to the New Xbox Experience update “in some respects” as it is seen as “a huge overhaul”.
A reputation system is said to be included in this 3.0 firmware, they were told “A reputation system in which users will be able to evaluate each other will be provided for… game applications.
“There will be a new API available to so the user can… allow users and also obtain users’ reputation.â€
A “grief reporting system” will also be within this update, allowing players to take screens of offensive players and make sure Sony are aware of what they’re doing. A text input for this system is likely.
Firmware v3.0 will also allow for patches to be downloaded in the background meaning you won’t have to stare at the screen for five minutes while that 500mb patch for LittleBigPlanet downloads.
Also included is simultaneous HDMI and digital optical outputting, sure to put a smile on all the faces of those audio heads.
VG247 says there is a lot more, but we’re going to have to wait to hear about it. We’re getting excited.
